Living at Scape
Q: Is it possible to share a room at Scape?
A: Our studios are single occupancy. You can have a guest to stay with you, just not permanently.
Q: Will I have to share a bath/shower room?
A: No, every room at Scape has its own en suite bathroom for your comfort and privacy.
Q: How many students live at Scape?
A: Approximately 580 students live at Scape East and an additional 280 at Scape Greenwich. Scape Shoreditch will be home to about 540 students.
Q: Can I have a party at Scape?
A: Yes, we have communal areas that you can hold events in, just come to reception to find out more and book a space. You can also have friends in your room, but please respect other Scape residents by keeping noise to a minimum.
Q: What happens if something in my room, e.g. a chair or light bulb breaks?
A: You should report the issue through myScape. Your problem will be logged, and a member of our on-site maintenance team will resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Q: How is my room cleaned?
A: It is your responsibility to keep your room clean. There is free cleaning equipment available on each floor. We can also offer cleaning services on a one off or continual basis. Please come to reception if you would like to use this service.
Q: Who do I contact if I have a personal problem or an emergency?
A: You can contact reception if you wish to discuss any problems. In case of fire, Scape buildings are equipped with fire call points, alarms, fire extinguishers and safety blankets. Should an alarm be set off, students should evacuate the building in accordance with the evacuation plan.
Q: Is there a gym/fitness club at Scape?
A: Yes, The Gym at Scape East is available to residents and membership is included in rents for 2012-13 and 2013-14 students. Scape Shoreditch will also have a gym when it opens in 2015.
Q: Is there a curfew?
A: There is no curfew at Scape. The building is staffed 24 hours a day, although after midnight you will need to use your key fob to gain entry to the building.
Q: Can I have guests to stay?
A: Yes, as long as it is cleared with management in advance, and your guest registers at reception upon their arrival.
Q: Is there car parking at Scape?
A: No, but we are very close to many public transport links. Parking in London is limited and very costly, so we strongly advise that you do not bring a car to Scape.
Q: If I go away for the university holidays do I need to move my possessions out of my room?
A: No, your room is yours for the duration of your contract, so you only need move out of the room at the end of the agreement.
Q: Can I smoke in my room or in the Scape building?
A: No. All Scape buildings are non-smoking. There are sheltered smoking areas designated at each building.
Q: What is my address while living at Scape?
A: The first line is your studio number, followed by the relevant Scape address on our Contact page. For example, if you live at Scape East in room W809, your address will be:

Q: Where can I find...
A: All of the essentials can be found within a short distance. Details for the nearest supermarkets, Post Offices, doctor's surgeries and more can be found in our student handbook and our friendly reception staff can always help you find your way.
Q: What is the Green policy at Scape?
A: Scape is focused on sustainability. All materials selected for the interior have been chosen for their long life, low maintenance and low energy use. The building also features: ground source heat pump, combined heat and power generator, grey water recycling, heat recovery, LED lighting and green roofs. We operate a recycling programme to make sure all residents and staff do their bit to keep Scape environmentally friendly. We reduce waste and energy use, re-use as many items as we can, and recycle as much rubbish as possible. We also have a BREEAM Excellent rating.
